Square One
This work was created during spring open studios 2010. I placed this blank panel face up on a turntable in my studio, and invited any visitors to help me cover it with bits of shopping bag paper whetted with wheat paste glue. My good friends Ruby and Kacie (ages 9 and 10) soon fell into a rhythm at the task, and in turn taught other visitors to help out. A few hours later this work was done!
I had prepped four identical panels for open studios, and spent the next few weeks, inspired by Square One, to create Square Two, Three, and Four (next images).
