Looking to mount the sewer show and tour again! I'm targeting March/April of 2014. Stay tuned.

  • Third Annual 2012 Sewer Tour and Art Party

Join us for Altered Landscape, a film screening/art exhibit/tour celebrating the audacity of humans and the power of the bulldozer.

All events at: Workspace Gallery, 2150 Folsom @ 17th

    Schedule

    Wednesday September 26, 7pm
Filmmaker Glenn Lym presents HERE5, a carefully documented look at the early flattening of San Francisco; the erasure of the sand dunes and burial of creeks throughout the Mission District and beyond.

Plus, the opening of art exhibit Altered Landscape.

    Saturday September 29, 2pm
The Sewer Tour Returns! Gather at Workspace with a bicycle, helmet, water and your burning curiosity. 3 hours, mostly flat, comfort with traffic and riding in groups suggested. Exceptional guides include Glenn Lym, filmmaker and local architect, Greg Braswell (see him here) and Joel Pomerantz of Thinkwalks

7-10 pm Art Party at Workspace! Live music, Popcorn, and Beverage. Oh wow.

  • an evening "UNDERGROUND"

    Wed Oct 26
Doors and Popcorn 6:30, show starts 7pm
    Workspace Ltd, 2150 Folsom @ 17th

First...citizen video and understanding the weather...how local engineers use you-tube video of flooding streets to help understand the storms we experience. We'll see footage from Oct 20, 2009, when Folsom Street erupted. Presented by alocalsewerhistorian Greg Braswell, assisted by John Seagrave and Nick Birth.

Next... San Francisco filmmakers Jeanne C. Finley & John Muse and their most recent work
Manhole 452, "a darkly lyrical hybrid of rumination and documentation, so slightly tinted with humor as to leave the viewers wondering whether they perceive it or imagine it", Kenneth Baker, San Francisco Chronicle.

Shot extremely locally, this fictionalized narrative follows the reflections of a man who was once almost killed by an exploding manhole cover: he now rides the Geary Limited bus to and from his job fitting prosthetic limbs, and is obsessed with the heavy steel plates which are everywhere. What are the odds? And how about the miracles?

These events are free and we welcome your curiosity.
