This picture is an interpretation of a photographic portrait of an American Family traveling in Turkey. The family happened upon a booth in a market in Istanbul, and were dressed in robes, given jewels, and posed as you see here.
I know this family well. While building this piece I decided that as I might never do their faces justice, I'd simply leave them open, shining, rich and forever.
